Objective: To map the available scientific evidence on the procedures for prescription, preparation, and administration of medications via enteral tubes, as well as the risks and complications associated with this method in hospitalized adult and pediatric patients. Method: Scoping review protocol guided by the JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute) methodology, based on the PCC strategy (Population, Concept, Context). Searches will be conducted in the databases MEDLINE, LILACS, IBECS, BDENF (via BVS), CINAHL, SCOPUS, Web of Science (WoS), and SciELO, as well as gray literature sources. Indexed terms and keywords will be used to ensure a comprehensive search. After duplicate removal, study screening will be performed by two independent reviewers, in a paired and blind manner, using the Rayyan software. Identified records will be organized in the Zotero reference manager, and the bibliographies of included studies will be analyzed to identify potential additional studies. Complete studies in Portuguese, English, and Spanish will be eligible, without time restriction, involving adult and pediatric patients. Extracted data will be organized in a specific form and presented narratively, graphically, and visually. Expected results: The review is expected to characterize the study populations, identify the types of feeding tubes investigated, and systematically map the risks and complications associated with medication administration via this route, as reported in the literature.
